I realise a little round up of 2015 is due.. But firstly I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year. Christmas came and went for me (I was busy working), but I hope you had a lovely festive time.
So looking back at 2015. I summed it up in this instagram picture. My top 9 of 2015. Although it was pretty hard to choose 9 photos (I take far too many)! Some of them were just obvious choices.
2015 saw some pretty big things, most prominently getting engaged back in August. (The Boy proposed whilst we were in Dubai), so we're busy thinking about colour schemes, flowers and cakes at the moment.
Did somebody mention cake..? This has always been a spot for cake, and of course I ate a fair bit of cake last year. Here are some of my favourites.. I've enjoyed cake at The Ampersand, Crumbs & Doilies, Foxcroft & Ginger, Anges de Sucre and The Hummingbird Bird Bakery. I also joined Yannick's Piccadilly & Petit Fours walking tour, the perfect way to combine cake and 'Wandering London'. I hope to explore London via cake a little more during 2016, there's bound to be new coffee shops and tea houses for me to enjoy.
2015 was the year I took up running. I ran my first 5K race back in the beginning of August and haven't looked back since. Perfect for running off those extra cake calories.
My blog became a little quiet last year, this is mainly due to the launch of a new project - pocketnannies. I wouldn't have it any other way, launching a blogging project with friends has been a great addition to 2015. However I'd really like to get things up and going again as I miss it. I still haven't blogged about Afternoon Tea at the Burj al Arab! (That's a new years resolution right there), which leads me on to...
My New Years Resolutions & Goals
1. Keep running.
2. Read more books.
3. Travel more.
4. Give blood.
5. Do something for charity.
So let me expand a little..
In terms of running my next goal is to book myself onto another 5K and then perhaps venture on to do a 10K at some point in the future, (aaaah, did I just commit myself to something)?! I've found it really helpful to set goals for myself along the way. You can read more about my running journey here.
I don't read as often as I'd like to, I guess sometimes my time is consumed with other things, but I'd really like to find myself lost in a book a little more often. Currently I am reading The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul. I'm only 50 or so pages in and I'm already hooked. I have a feeling it's going to be a good one. Have you got any recommendations for me to read in 2016?
Travel wise, we've nothing booked for 2016 as of yet. That, however, needs to change. We've 10 days booked off work in March. We'll definitely be going somewhere.. watch this space.
I'm really hoping to do a few weekends away after the successful trip to Copenhagen last year. I've learnt weekends away like this are more than doable and I just need to book! Am thinking Stockholm, as I'd love to take the Boy to Copenhagen but sometimes I think its best to have a new place to explore together. We also had some great weekends away in England, including staying at The Shepherd's Rest in Norfolk. This should be another theme for travel. There really are so many places in the UK I'm yet to see. It's a little embarrassing really. Time to get planning..
I've given blood a couple of times now, twice in the past year. It's something that I've actually feel quite strongly about. The percentage of people who are able to give blood and more importantly actually do is staggeringly low. I think my healthier lifestyle has helped.
Of course we all want to do good, isn't that what resolutions are about? Being healthier, better, kinder.. than last year. I will try and tie in my running with some raising money for charity. 2 goals in 1.
What are your New Years Resolutions?
