Yesterday saw me meeting a friend at the Kings Road, we'd planned to have a nosy around the shops and then visit Tanya's Cafe which specialises in raw food. A perfect spot for a vegetarian/vegan lunch. It was such a beautiful day, the sun was out and I was wishing I'd brought my sunglasses, who'd have thought the first day of November would be so warm and pleasant.
We pottered in Duke of York Square admiring the stalls that make up the Saturday Farmers market. There is so much on offer - a perfect place to grab lunch, but we had plans. I drooled (not literally, thank goodness) over the cupcakes at the Crumbs & Doilies stall, you can read about their yummy cupcakes here.
We started heading towards Tanya's cafe for our lunch date, and came across this sign.. We'd been completely oblivious to the fact that the Queen of Baking herself - Mary Berry would be making an appearance on the Kings Road too.
Mary Berry was doing a book signing today in an hours time! We swiftly took ourselves inside to buy a copy of her new book Mary Berry Cooks the Perfect Step by Step. We then went back outside to join the queue which wasn't looking too bad. We could hardly believe the timing, Emma and I are both huge fans of the bake off. So meeting Mary Berry was very surreal, especially considering it was totally by coincidence that we were in the right place at the right time.
The time went quickly and soon we were heading inside and nearing the front of the queue.
I was beginning to feel a bit nervous - after all it's not every day you get to meet Mary Berry!
Those of you who have been to a book singing will know the encounter is very brief, unfortunately we didn't get chance to quiz Mary on her baking techniques or anything like that, shame.
Here we are my signed book. I'm still rather excited about it all.
Afterwards we headed to Tanya's where I enjoyed this lovely Taco, and got a real taste of eating raw.
I'd love to return to Tanya's to try their Superfood Cocktails which are on offer after 4pm.
Have you been to Tanya's? What do you think of eating raw?
