The Attendant: Lunch in a Loo

This is probably one of the most unusual places I've sat to drink coffee..

The Attendant is an ex-public toilet! Situated at 27a Foley Street, W1W 6DY.

There's more space in this little coffee shop than I expected. It's very nice and clean - but some of the original features still remain.

There's a large range of coffee on offer with beans from Caravan, and this place does good coffee. There's also a lovely selection of teas and Hot Chocolate from Paul A Young, just an excuse to return! I went on to discover their milk is from one farm in Somerset. How cute is that?

Anyway I chose a piccolo which was lovely - quite an intense coffee but very smooth, if that makes sense. The boy went for an americano.

There's a lovely selection of pastries & cakes, as you can see. The sea salt caramel brownies jumped out at me. But it was time for something more substantial than cake. The boy went for a muffin crammed with maple cured bacon, free range egg and Swiss cheese. (£4.25) He said it was amazing. You could also choose from Salt beef or Turkey sandwiches which I have to say looked amazing, but didn't fit my vegetarian criteria. So I opted for the Vanilla Dipped French Toast ~ organic brioche dipped in Madagascan vanilla bean pods served with vanilla mascarpone and fresh fruit with maple syrup and mint. (£7.95). This was amazing , the brioche was so tasty and almost melted in the mouth. I do have a thing for real vanilla pods!

I love the quirkiness of this place, when else can you say you've drank coffee at a urinal..?!

Yes, really!

Thanks for reading.
