This morning we got up early and headed to The Breakfast Club which has migrated south of the river opening a cafe on Battersea Rise in Clapham. This is the newest addition opening just a few of weeks ago back in May.
I'd heard the queue can be quite lengthy which is the reason we left early, they open at 9am on a Sunday and serve breakfast/brunch all day until 5pm. We arrived at around 9.15 and it was quite busy but there were enough tables free. We sat outside, which was a little chilly in the shade but it was very nice to be breakfasting al-fresco.
Inside looks great - very nicely decorated and a large bar, but I can't comment to much as we only popped inside to ask for a table & a menu.
There's such an extensive menu, that takes you through to lunch and then onto dinner too. It sounds like a great place to catch up over cocktails too.
I went for the Reggie the Veggie at £9.20, whilst the boy chose the Full Monty, which was £9.70. I think it was good value for money, the portions were large, and this is what you would expect for the area. Our food came pretty quickly (probably within 10-15 minutes), not bad at all - we've previously waited what seems like hours elsewhere! It wasn't too quick that it was unbelievable either.
However we still didn't have our coffees the waitress who brought our food over picked up on this and went to retrieve them. But we really hadn't expected the food to arrive before the drinks!
Anyway the food was great - one of the best cooked breakfasts I've had in a long time. As a veggie it can be very interesting what sort of sausage or equivalent I get presented. This time it was a decent veggie sausage, not one of those cheap and cheerful nasty ones! Thank Goodness for that! It also came with a round of toast, which was lovely multi-grain bloomer bread.
It was a shame it took quite a long time to get our bill & pay for it. I think this was down to the volume of customers! We just felt sorry for the queue of people who could see a couple of empty tables and us ready to leave.
The staff were very attentive and I am definitely not having a dig. I can see they were very busy and dealing with it the best they possibly could.
The great food and quality outshine any possible teething problems that they
may be experiencing and I would honestly recommend you make a visit. Just get there nice and early to avoid the queue!
Ps. The lengthy queue can only say one thing, as does a packed restaurant - a lot of people are very keen to try this new addition and if most are like me then they are eager to return. : )
Thank you for reading. x
