Brunch becomes highly acceptable only at the weekends. This weekend there's been no room for cupcakes. But I've been out for brunch twice. Eek that's probably enough calories for the entire week.
Saturday - Brew, Northcote Road, SW
My sweet tooth took over and I opted for - blueberry pancakes, caramelised banana, creme fraiche & maple syrup. Unfortunately I was too quick to dive into the scrummy pancakes to take a picture! Maybe you'll have to try them for yourself.
Brew is always busy, there is a lot of seating outside with heaters and rugs. Even though it was busy, my friends and I managed to get a table for 3 quite quickly. The staff were nice & helpful we weren't rushed for time either, and we even lingered for extra coffees.
The pancakes came in at £8.20 and the smoothie was £4.20, which may seem quite expensive but it was very tasty so I can't complain.
Sunday - Tota, Tooting
I've heard great things about a couple of up and coming places in Tooting, which is just down the road. I love Twitter for this exact purpose! So today we went to Tota. I had the veggie breakfast which consists of two eggs (however you like them), veggie sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, guacamole, bubble & squeak and toast & butter. What a plateful. The very generous portion sizing was a little too much for me, but what a lovely breakfast something a little different and came in at £6.80 - brilliant value for all that food and the stack of toast accompanying it.
Tota was very busy, Sunday is exclusively serving brunch on Sundays. All the customers asking for tables were asked if they'd booked. So I would recommend booking if there's a lot of you. However saying that the food came out quickly once ordered, so you won't be waiting around. The staff were very friendly, but perhaps a little rushed off their feet - however I will see this as a good thing, they have a very popular establishment!
I'd highly recommend.
So, where is your favourite place for weekend brunch?
