Is it cheating if I use a Betty Crocker brownie mix?! I picked this up when I was busy organising my three coffee mornings in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
I was a bit worried that I might run out of cakes, but everyone was so generous and we ended up with cakes and biscuits a plenty.
So this has been sat in the cupboard waiting to be used.
It's a real cheat and not so fun as making your own brownies. I simply poured the packet into a bowl and added an egg, water and oil. But actually I do think these products serve their purpose.
But how do they compare to my fresh brownies. You can see read about my lovely brownie recipe here..
I have to say these brownies hit the spot, they are nice and crisp on top and moist inside. But the lovely gooey brownies I made before are much better with lovely melting chunks of chocolate inside. You can't beat warm brownies with raspberries and ice cream.
Have you been fooled by packet cakes? Do you think they can taste better than your favourite homemade versions?
