So today the famous 'Tea & Cake' book came out for it's first proper usage. Flicking through is a real treat to the eye, so then came the decision of where to visit today.
Today the boy and I decided to try out Peggy Porschen Cakes in Belgravia, and what a treat it was.
We were greeted by a beautiful pink exterior. Peggy Porschen Cakes is classed as a parlour! Which adds a bit of glamour immediately I thought. It's located just along from Victoria Coach Station, I have to say I'm slightly annoyed I haven't stumbled across this one before!
Stepping inside we were greeted by 2 friendly waitresses and an array of beautiful cakes and teas, and of course a big decision!
I went for a Lemon Chiffon Cupcake, accompanied with a pot Floral Rose Blend Tea.
The Lemon, (I believe) cream cheese frosting was lovely, not to sickly just perfect. And the cake itself was as you would expect, light and fluffy and not a bit on the dry side.
As much as I love tea, I have to say I'm not as adventurous as I should be, I tend to stick to my favorites Earl Grey, Lady Grey or an Afternoon Blend. I opted for something a bit different this afternoon, the Floral Rose Blend. A light refreshing tea. Taken without milk. And perfect fit with my cupcake.
We also both tried a mini macaroon - today's offering included pistachio, hazelnut and caramel. Another of my tea & cake tasting failures, (and I don't quite believe it myself), but I don't think I've ever actually tried a macaroon up until today!! Like a mini meringue - right up my street!
The boy chose the Black Forest Cupcake (which I have to say has won a *Great Taste Award Winner 2011*) and he choose well.
How does he always nearly manage to choose the better of the two?
Anyway I had a cheeky try of his, and it was delicious, I'm not really sure which of the two I preferred. Which can only mean one thing, we'll just have to pay Peggy Porschen Cakes another visit...
